THE
NO MAN’S LAND
STORY

A simple drawing of a person holding a protest sign that reads 'Stop Watching Porn.'

No Man’s Land Press was born out of my (David’s) journey in being off porn, shedding layers around my heart, and stepping into embodied manhood. No Man’s Land got it’s name as a symbol of the countless times I chose to lean into uncomfortable places; every time I did, my life expanded for the better. That is what’s embodied in my poetry and artwork.

A cartoon-style flower with the words "Build a safer world" written over the petals.

    Bigger

    Elusive serenity

    Avoid the paralysis

    Take a good look

    At the final analysis

    “Final” is an illusion

    This is the beginning

    Don’t give in

    To life without feeling

    When the heavy gets heavier

    And life gets rough

    In order to live well

    Boy, you gotta get tough

    Your problems don’t shrink

    You’ll still face the triggers

    So with gigantic problems

    Soul’s ask is get bigger

    Bigger than bad choices

    More stable than the faults

    More honest than the secrets

    More action than the oughts

    More creative than the puzzles

    More nimble than the stiff

    More patient than the rushing

    More flowers less bullshit

    So when heavy gets unliftable

    And the staircase everlong

See with each step you grow bigger

It gets light as you get strong

When you open up the browser

To type up p and o

Instead of r once to the left

Trade the n for so much more

    Traveling the city

    Avoid that dreadful hub

Where you pay with fragments of your Soul

All for a short lived rub

The life force that you give away

    The life force you destroy

    These are human beings bro

They’re more than just some toys

    So when that smartphone opens

And you type that p and o

Finish it with e and m

    And feed your weary Soul

  • A regular man will always be

    More profound than any prophet

The man that does his best

And continually tries to top it

The preacher says ‘this is the one truth’

And I think he’s got it wrong

I’ll always praise the man that knows

That he only hears a piece of the song

A man that doesn’t give his power

    To a holy place abstraction

But a man who listens to what God whispers

    And turns it into action

Not a man who claims to know the truth

Not a man who thinks he’s higher

Not a man who who sells the flint and steel

But a man that IS the fire

    The unswallowed truth is served

Go ‘head make room on your plate

All you’ve done comes out in the wash

It’s time you clean the slate

    Secrets sent to Google

Shadow feasts in orange and black

    Debt accumulated behind closed doors

That only open doors can pay back
